Creation of a High Range I.Q. Test.
-in my case
Introduction.
My regular job is the production and scoring what is one of the most famous tests in Japan. More than 2.000.000 people take this test every year.This test is not IQ test.
I have created 9 High Range IQ tests so far personally.
In this document I examine the details of creating such a IQ test.
The creation.
First of all, with no doubt, there is a strong desire to create the test.
However, the reasons why you are going to create a test are more important, because many good tests are already out there.If you intend to create a test, you need to have a new and clear concept.
What is new? In what points can you offer superiority ?
A clear idea that can be explained in a single word is necessary, otherwise the idea will not be able to provide something useful to the scene.Otherwise, it will not be able to provide something useful to the world.
Designing a test is not difficult. Almost everyone can do it easily.
However, designing a good test is very difficult.
Defining high quality.
So, what is the difference between good and bad or mediocre tests?
I think it goes as follows.
- Low dependency on knowledge (or easy reference)
- Answers cannot be found easily by internet search
- Manifold logic (and new logic)
- Clear and simple logic
- Fun aspect (difficult to define)
Things to watch out for.
You need to pay close attention so that the solutions are unique.Testees's logic might be better than expected, and foreseeing different logic is not easy.
Pay close attention so that you don't confuse "advantage of the creator" and "egoistic logic".
Duplication and similarity of logic should be avoided. Also, you should avoid using the same logic with other tests whenever possible.Quality implies diversity in logic.
About qualities.
I believe that the talents required to make a test and solve a test are different.
However, I don't think that the creator doesn't need the ability to solve tests at all.
I recommend you to achieve 4σ at least twice in the type of test you intend to create.The reason for this is to understand the process of solving the problems from the testee's point of view.
Having a strong will to continue scoring is necessary.
Finally, testees spend a great deal of effort and energy to submit a test. The creator has a responsibility and obligation to receive that effort.
The test quality
Take a verbal analogy for example.
Good logic
The following is an example that is often quoted:
"water:liquid::ice:(solid)"
Attested by State of matter.
Bad logic
-Egoistic logic-
"cat:cute::snake:(terrible)"
Not unique
"mammalia:cat::aves:(hawk)"
Too many exceptions
"crow:black::apple:(red)"
Concrete example (in the case of spatial)
In my opinion, at least 90 ideas are needed to design 30 items.When you're done designing approximately 60 items, proceed reviewing those while taking into account the overall balance and diversity in logic.Scrutiny and improvement are absolutely necessary and very important processes.Absolutely avoid the mass production of inferior goods.
In cases of incomplete items, creators owe to take full responsibility despite it may sadden the testees.
I think that the design of a test should last at least 3 months (100 hours). Actually, it is better to devote more time to it. The more the time doing checks, the better.Rather than publishing immediately after the design is completed, I recommend that you leave it for several weeks. It is recommended to do the final check later from an objective perspective.
After publishing, it is complicated to apply modifications. I also think that altering an already published test is an act of betrayal towards the effort of the testees.
Please refer to these and send out high quality tests to the scene.
